Determination

You may have heard of the saying “determination is doing what needs to be done even when you don’t feel like doing it!”?

If we were to really consider the word determination and its meaning what would we find?

According to the dictionary, determination means the quality of being determined, firmness of purpose – “those who succeed because of sheer grit and determination.”

This is all well and good, but how do we find the ability to find resolutions, have resolve, use our willpower, have that sense of purpose and decidedness?

Somehow, for us to be determined, we must dig deep inside ourselves and find our mojo.

If we were to look on determination being the solution and finding our quality as being the means or the method to achieve our solution, perhaps we would achieve more often.

What is it that makes us successful and full of energy some days, whilst other days we have no excitement, interest or energy in anything, our enthusiasm just walked out the door!

We need to gain a new lease of life and pull ourselves out of the brink and focus on what needs to be done!

Orison Swett Marden is quoted as saying “A will finds a way.” Maybe this is the answer, finding that will, whether it’s a will to live or a will to succeed, or even a will just to get out of bed in the morning!

All this begins and ends with changing our mindset. This is fine if we know how to do it. Or even if we can be bothered. This comes back to finding our mojo!

If we can’t wake up in the morning and feel determined, then perhaps our resolve and determination will begin much before that. How about beginning this the day before, last thing at night before we go to bed? Thinking about how tomorrow is going to be different, imaging it, seeing it, feeling it and most importantly believing it!

As Josie Spinardi once stated, “Create the life you can’t wait to wake up to.”

The challenge needs to be planning to be determined the day BEFORE, so we wake up in the morning DETERMINED that today is the day!
