A Chance to Change!

There is a Zig Ziglar quote which I read recently which reads “Your attitude, not your aptitude, will determine your altitude” – Zig Ziglar

I particularly liked this one because it focuses on how our attitude can affect how far we can progress.

We know we can have a positive or negative attitude towards everything and everyone. This can often lead to the beliefs people have whether they be the proverbial optimist or the ongoing pessimist!

Attitude is so difficult to define as it relates to our behaviour which if we have attitude means we can come across arrogant and even defiant. The effects of having a negative or bad attitude can and will alter the result.

Often, we blame our attitude on someone or something that has happened to us. We get into the blame game wanting to point the finger and make excuses as to why we didn’t achieve what we set out to achieve.

We all know we can choose to have a positive or negative outlook, but for some this is hard, nearly impossible. When we’re in business we can’t afford to have anything but a positive outlook and attitude, otherwise we are never going to grow our business.

To be able to change our attitude we need to have the right aptitude. Using our existing skills and talent we can make the changes we want.

Looking at the other part of the quote which refers to altitude, refers to those wonderful heights we can climb to looking back to see how far we’ve come. We can only climb the mountain if we have the right attitude and aptitude.

Interestingly almost at the same time I saw the above quote I saw this other one from Zig Ziglar, “You don’t have to be great to start, but you have to start to be great”

This sits so well with the other quote in that we need to start somewhere, and if we do, we can be great. We don’t want to put things off but start the journey otherwise we will never achieve what we want.

What is the message here?

We need to have the right attitude if we are to achieve great things, and if we do all can ever be is great!
