Are You Taking that Leap Forward?

When we think about taking a leap forward, we may initially think of a reactionary jump rather than a planned leap. When we do make that leap, we need to be mindful what we might land onto or into!

You will be aware of the phrase ‘out of the frying pan into the fire’ which is used to describe the situation of moving or getting from a bad or difficult situation to a worse one, with this often being the result of trying to escape or flee from a bad or difficult situation.

Of course we want to avoid this, instead taking planned leaps into or onto something better or more positive.

Whether we are talking personally or professionally, work or business we can apply the same methods.

Look at L-E-A-P below and see how you can use these steps to progress in a planned way to move forward and perhaps when you are feeling a little dubious or reluctant, taking a leap to propel yourself into a situation which is outside of your comfort zone. A little like ‘Eat That Frog’ by Brian Tracy, which is about getting the worst thing out of the way without thinking too much about it and the rest of the tasks, work or day is much easier, less stressful and more manageable.

L – learn

A – apply

E – execute

P – plan

LEARN – I believe we are or should be learning every day in every way. Keeping an open mind about things enables us to be creative, listen to others, and consider options we may not have thought of before

APPLY – I’m a great believer in using everything we’ve learned in one way or another, whether this is a meeting, networking meeting, training course or seminar, there will always be a takeaway, something we can use to help us

EXECUTE – As with making sure we use everything we learn; we must follow through and execute, otherwise the job is only half done, never finished; so completing and seeing the results are motivating and increase confidence and self-esteem

PLAN – If we don’t plan, we don’t grow, we remain reactive, stay unproductive and aren’t as efficient and effective as we could be, but by continuing to plan our next steps, new strategies, or SMART goals, will help us grow and leap into our desired destination

If you want to advance or progress with becoming an even better you, then you can make great improvements and positive headway by making constructive break-throughs which will boost your confidence and help you mature personally and professionally. The L-E-A-P helps with your evolution.
