Are you the BOSS or do you have the B.O.S.S.?

We have this ideal and idea that when we set up, own and run our own business we are our own boss, don’t need to answer to anyone other than ourselves. We can be flexible when we work, what we do, how we do it. We aren’t accountable to anyone! How fantastic is that?

But, is it? Fantastic that is?

Reality tells us that whilst all the above is true, we can often lack setting directions, key performance indicators for us to measure our progress. We often drift to those pieces of work we like and let those dreaded distractions pull us away from what we need to do to drive our business forward.

Often, we need some help to achieve this:

Business Owners Support Solutions to give you the Success Factor

When you’re running a business, it can be hard to manage your work / life balance in the best way.

There’s an assumption that the balance should be equal on both sides at all times but it’s like scales in that the balance may shift one way or the other at times due to our circumstances and events we need to manage.

The important thing is we manage that balance to fit in with our needs, goals, visions and aspirations to achieve what we desire.

How might we do this?

  1. Setting our direction

We need to set some goals and have a plan, and if we don’t then this of course would be the first task; setting SMART goals and actions so we are clear where we are going and how we are going to get there.

2. Keeping on track

To enable us to monitor ourselves and our progress and determine if we are on track we need to embed quarterly reviews to enable us to have a brief check in that we are still working towards our main goal; these can be broken down into monthly and weekly actions and broken down further into daily tasks.

3. Managing our stress

Stress is the body’s reaction to change, and it provides the ‘signal’ for us to make an adjustment and change our response so we can accommodate how we’re feeling and amend accordingly. It’s important when we’re the boss to be aware of when we are feeling stressed and make allowances rather than try and ‘carry on regardless’.

4. Finding balance

We hear a lot about work / life balance, and having balance, but we need to find the balance which suits us, our needs, our lifestyle, our business and emotional and physical needs. What is good or right for one person may not be right for another. It’s important to set a goal or plan for your balance and work towards achieving this.

If you are the BOSS and feel you would like some help and support in having the B.O.S.S. (business owners support solutions) remember our first hour is FREE. We can offer you our one-hour complimentary consultation. It’s just an email or phone call away.
