Inspirations and Aspirations

Have you ever really thought about what it is that inspires us, and do we really know what our aspirations are?

What’s the difference between aspirations and inspirations first?

Aspirations – these are ambitions, goals, objectives or aims

Inspirations – being inspired or motivated to do or achieve something

We may have an aspiration to buy gym membership, however, we need to be inspired to physically go to the gym; OR we might have an aspiration to lose weight and get fit, but we must be inspired to start a healthy eating regime or start a fitness programme to achieve our goal.

The reason why we often don’t achieve our goals and achieve our aspirations is because we haven’t worked out how to get from one to the other.

Here are some steps to help you achieve your aspirations and empower you to feel inspired to succeed.

Step 1 – Start at the end – you need to focus on the ‘end’ result or the desired outcome you want to achieve. What is it you want, what will it look like? Imagine yourself already there.

Step 2 – Start at the beginning – once you’ve pictured the ‘end’ result, now you can imagine the beginning. What is your starting block? What is the first thing you need to do to commence?

Step 3 – Creating the middle – Now you have the beginning and end image in your mind and have written this down, you need to see how you can assemble the structure. What are the steps you need to take to reach your goal and achieve your desired result?

Step 4 – Consider the solutions to the problem. Write down the benefits you will feel or have, what are the problems achieving this goal will alleviate or remove? Now you are creating sound solutions

Step 5 – Determine your purpose. To enable you to fulfil your goals or ambitions you need to have tangible, firm and concrete intentions. Consider any areas which may cause you to falter and see how you can plug these gaps.

Step 6 – Develop strong actions and make firm decisions. These can be in the form of personal affirmations. Have these somewhere visible to remind you why you started on this journey in the first place
