It’s Just the Way I Am and Always Will Be!

How often have you heard yourself say, “I’ve always done this” or “I’ve always avoided this”?

What we think and say we believe, and what we believe becomes reality, but is it?

By repeatedly doing the same thing and expecting a different outcome, or habitually continuing to do the things we know we shouldn’t because they don’t achieve something positive just further embeds our believe we ‘can’t’ do the things we want to or continually avoid the things we know we need to face.

This ‘bad’ habit isn’t helpful, and can be a soul destroyer, and just emphasises our believes in ourselves resulting in self-fulfilling prophesies!

We can make the changes in our lives we want to, it’s not the way you are or the way we are! We weren’t born like that; we became like that due to something in our lives which has created a ‘perceived’ obstacle or barrier which has developed into a thought that we believe!

If we want to make those positive changes in our lives then we can do it, and we can do it now. We just need to draw a line in the sand and say we no longer have that belief and we will no longer have that ‘bad’ habit any longer.

We need to start by creating success habits and doing this bit by bit. Starting with one until this becomes natural for us before creating another one. Eventually we can create a new habit of developing new habits every day or every week!

Here are some steps to get you started:

  1. Consider those areas in your life you want to change – what keeps you awake at night; what are your main worries; what are your main stress factors?

  2. Then consider what activities or positive habits you currently have which bring you joy and happiness and make you feel relaxed and chilled

  3. Lastly consider what habits you could introduce that would help you deal with those areas in your life you want to change; some of these may be the same as in point 2 or new habits

  4. Write down which habit you intend using to combat which worry or stress and how you are going to ensure this becomes a daily habit

  5. Diarise these so you continually repeat the good habit reflecting on each week to see hard or easy it’s been and how successful you’ve been at breaking bad habits and introducing new habits into your life
