In today’s workplaces and communities, leadership is no longer just about expertise or authority. It’s about how we show up emotionally, especially under pressure. Emotional intelligence is built on five key elements: self-awareness, self-regulation, self-motivation, empathy, and social skills. Together, these form the foundation of leadership that people want to follow. When leaders lack emotional awareness, decisions become reactive. When they develop it, decisions become intentional. Personally, this is an area I continually work on. Leadership — in business, coaching, and community — regularly tests patience, clarity, and emotional balance.
